Mrs. Amber George
My husband and daughters
Hello! Thank you very much for taking the time to explore the Tiger Paws Learning Lab website!
My name is Amber George and I am the Director/Teacher of the Tiger Paws Learning Lab. I am a Herrinite from the class of 2003. While in high school, I focused all of my studies on Child Development and the Tiger Paws Program. I attended Southern Illinois University-Carbondale and received my Bachelor's Degree in Workforce Education with a specialization in Family and Consumer Sciences Secondary Education! I find it very rewarding and fulfilling that I have went full circle and am now the director of a program that had such a powerful impact on my life while I was in high school!
Since graduating from Herrin High school, I have married my best friend, Mike George. I have two daughters, Destiny and Gigi, and two grandsons, Genesis and Ezra.
As of Spring 2021, I have achieved my National Board of Professional Teaching Standards Certification as well as my Master's Degree in Educational Administration from SIU-C.
In February of 2022, I learned that I was named the 2022 Illinois Southeast Regional Teacher of the Year! What an honor! I had the pleasure of meeting wonderful educators throughout our state as well as
Dr. Carmen Ayala, State Superintendent. I cannot wait to see all of the wonderful adventures that await me in the field of education!
Again, thank you for checking out our page and a huge thank you to the parents of all current and former Tiger Paws preschoolers for trusting us with your children!
For the Children,
Amber L. George, NBCT
